Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan Shows Off Elite Versatility With Throws Sweep

Woonsocket's Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan cemented his legacy as one of Rhode Island's all-time greatest throwers with a final tour of throwing circles at the Rhode Island State Track and Field Championships. 

The Ole Miss recruit won the hammer with 249-5, a new personal best that moved him to No. 7 on the all-time list. He also threw 184-2 to win the discus and 64-8.25 to win the shot put. 

Devan Kipyego from St. Raphael Academy tied a neat bow on his final Rhode Island state meet as he won the 800 meters title in 1:51.32, edging Kaden Kluth of Portsmouth (1:51.49). Kipyego also won the 1,500 in 3:57.88.  And he helped St. Raphael Academy win the 4x800 relay. 

Henry Dennen of Cumberland prevented a three-event sweep for Kipyego as he won the 3,000 meters in 8:36.57. Kipyego was second in 8:40.64.

Matthew Stamatelatos of North Smithfield ran 14.98 to win the 110-meter hurdles and 39.34 to win the 300 hurdles. 

Classical's Marquis Buchanan won the high jump and long jump. 

La Salle Academy swept the boys and girls team championships. 

Sprinters Jared Gibbons and Jubril Bamgbala split the sprint finals for La Salle. Gibbons won the 100 in 10.85w and Bamgbala won the 200 in 21.75w. Teammate Maxwell Cute won the javelin with 198-10. 

Ailani Sutherland of Cranston won the 100 meters (12.25) and 200 meters (25.31). 

Sierra Thompson of South Kingstown won the 400 in 57.25. 

Rylee Shunney of East Greenwich was a double winner in the 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters. Grace Carr of Cumberland won the 800 final in 2:14.29. 

Classical's Jacqueline Edoro swept the hurdles, running 15.09 in the 100-meter and 45.25 in the 300s. She also won the triple jump with 38-3.50.

Morgan Casey of Portsmouth cleared 5-8 to win the girls high jump. 

Alyssa Yankee of Cumberland won the shot put and the discus. 

Liangie Calderon from Coventry won the hammer with 165-4.
